There is just something about autumn light.
The sun sits lower in the sky, the evenings feel softer, and everything seems to take on a warm, golden glow.
As a photographer, this is one of my favourite times of year to photograph families, couples, and maternity sessions.

You Don’t Need Fall Leaves
When we think of fall photography, we often picture colourful trees and piles of orange and red leaves.
But you don’t actually need any of that to create beautiful autumn-inspired photographs.
These maternity portraits are a perfect example.

We were surrounded by prairie grasses and wheat, but the warm evening light transformed the entire setting. It caught the edges of her hair, made the grasses glow, and gave her green dress a beautiful richness.
It’s the light that creates the magic.
And this is one of the reasons I love photographing in the Lloydminster area. Our prairie landscapes and open skies can create some incredible golden-hour light.

Golden Hour Just Feels Different
There is something about those last few minutes before sunset.
Everything becomes softer.
The light gets warmer.
And suddenly, even a simple field can feel beautiful.
That’s when I want you to forget about the camera and just be together.
Walk. Laugh. Cuddle your babies. Hold hands. Enjoy each other.
I’ll take care of the rest.

Because years from now, I don’t want you to just remember what you looked like.
I want you to remember how this season of your life felt.
And that’s the magic of autumn light.
Thinking about booking a fall session? Let’s make some memories while the light is beautiful.
