A Simple, Timeless Newborn Session

There is something I love about keeping newborn sessions simple.

This sweet little girl’s session is such a perfect example of why I gravitate toward soft colours, simple setups, and posing that keeps all the attention on baby.

Keeping the Focus on Baby

When I’m planning a newborn session, my goal is never to have the props or accessories become the main attraction. I want you to look at these images years from now and still see your baby first.

For this session, we kept things soft and neutral with white textures, a delicate headband, and simple posing. The result is clean and timeless without feeling too plain.

I love being able to capture all those tiny details—the little fingers, curled toes, soft cheeks and sleepy expressions that change so quickly in those first weeks.

Simple Doesn’t Mean Boring

One of my favourite things about newborn photography is that you don’t need a complicated setup to create beautiful images.

Changing the pose, angle, or little details can completely change the feel of an image while keeping the overall look cohesive.

This little one gave us several beautiful variations in the same simple setup. From her sweet hands tucked underneath her chin to her tiny feet and curled-up poses, each image shows a little bit of her personality while still fitting beautifully together.

That is something I always keep in mind when photographing a newborn gallery. I want the images to work individually, but I also want them to tell one complete story when you look through the gallery.

A Few Special Details

While most of this session stayed very simple, we did add one more setup with a small vintage-style basket and a floral outfit.

I love incorporating a few carefully chosen props when they complement the baby rather than compete with her. A prop can add texture, colour and variety to the gallery while still keeping the overall look timeless.

For me, that balance is important. I don’t want a newborn session to feel overly themed or filled with trends that might feel dated a few years from now.

Instead, I want you to have photographs that feel just as beautiful (or just as funny as this scowl) when your baby is five, ten or twenty years old.

Newborn Photography in Lloydminster

If you’re expecting a baby and love soft, neutral and timeless newborn photography, I would love to create something beautiful for your family.

My Lloydminster newborn sessions are designed around your baby, with simple styling, carefully selected props and gentle posing. We can create a gallery with lots of variety while still keeping that classic, cohesive look.

Because these first few weeks really do go by far too quickly.

And those tiny details you see every day right now? They won’t stay tiny forever.
