My Favourite Props & Setups | Lloydminster Newborn Photographer

Newborn sessions don’t need a lot to feel complete.

As a Lloydminster newborn photographer, I’ve refined my approach over time to focus on what truly matters—your baby, your connection, and the feeling of this season. Looking through some of my favourite images from past sessions, there’s a clear pattern in what I come back to: soft tones, simple textures, and setups that don’t compete for attention.

Everything is chosen to support the image, not define it.

The Wrapped Baby

Some of the most timeless images come from the simplest setup.

A baby, gently wrapped, placed on a soft neutral surface—nothing added that doesn’t need to be there. You’ll see this in the creamy white images and the deeper, moodier tones as well.

Whether it’s a light, airy look or something with more depth like navy or olive, the approach stays the same: keep it minimal so your baby stands out.

Wooden Bowls & Natural Textures

Wooden bowls show up often in my work, but always in a very understated way.

Paired with soft layers or subtle textures, they create just enough structure without feeling styled. In some images, they’re surrounded by natural elements like greenery or simple fabrics—never overwhelming, just enough to add depth.

These setups photograph beautifully because they feel grounded and organic.

Soft, Textured Layers

You’ll notice a lot of soft textures—flokati, knit layers, simple fabrics.

These are used to create warmth without distraction. Whether baby is resting on a textured cream layer or wrapped in something slightly more detailed, everything is kept within a neutral, cohesive palette.

Nothing pulls your eye away from where it should be.

Simple Prop Setups (Buckets, Beds, Chairs)

There are a few classic props woven throughout these images—buckets, small beds, and simple wooden pieces.

They’re used sparingly and styled in a way that keeps them from feeling overly posed. A baby in a bucket, a small bed with soft layers, or a tiny chair setup—all of it is kept clean and consistent so it fits seamlessly into your gallery.

Even the more styled setups (like the heart bowl or swing) are kept soft and neutral so they still feel like your baby’s story, not a theme.

Subtle Colour, Always Neutral

While most setups lean into whites, creams, and soft earth tones, you’ll also see muted greens, deep blues, and warm browns.

These colours are chosen carefully—they add variety without taking over. Nothing is bright or trendy. Everything is meant to complement skin tones and keep the overall gallery feeling calm and cohesive—something I prioritize in every session I photograph in and around Lloydminster.

Variety Without Feeling Busy

One of the things I focus on is giving you variety without it feeling overwhelming.

Across these images, you’ll see different angles, textures, and setups—but they all belong together. Nothing feels out of place because everything follows the same approach: simple, soft, and intentional.

Final Thoughts

These setups aren’t about props—they’re about creating images that feel natural, consistent, and timeless.

As a Lloydminster newborn photographer, my goal is always the same: when you look back at your photos years from now, you see your baby first. Not the setup. Not the trend. Just them, exactly as they were in those early days.

Everything I use in the studio is chosen with that in mind.
