The light has to be low on the horizon and about to set, to get this golden lighting. As the days shorten, the timing of the sunset is more convenient for a photo session. Unlike in the summer when golden hour happens at 11pm lol. In spring the timing is also great, but here on the prairies everything is still brown and dead, which is not ideal for beautiful photos. Hence the reason that Fall Family Photo Sessions are the busiest time of the whole year.
