Take a look at this BTS milestone mini session.
This darling girl was a little bit shy and hesitant to be away from Mom’s arms and that is 100% okay. Not every baby is crawling through the studio, ready to play.
We made sure to keep Mom just an arms reach away, so baby could feel safe. We started slow on this ultramarine backdrop, which was AMAZING for capturing her big blue eyes.
It actually is really helpful when your little ones start out shy because that means they don’t instantly run away from the camera! Those first moments in the studio, as they are getting used to a new environment are almost ALWAYS hesitant and slow. Your little one will likely just sit or stand and take it all in. This is my favourite time to capture images.
We like to play and sing songs. Peek-a-boo is a classic and usually gets them smiling 🙂 I also have some simple wooden toys that photograph well, if baby needs a distraction.
Before too long baby gets more comfortable, seeing that Mom is still right by her side. This is where the smiles and fun come out. We switched to the bassinet, which is so great at keeping mobile babies contained, but also able to freely move around on their own.
My milestone mini session includes 3 different sets or looks and our last one planned and chosen by Mom, was the swing. As you can see in the video, it did not go according to plan. Baby did not love the swing and we quickly pulled her out and shifted. This little one was able to communicate and we gave her a few options (she was really great at saying ‘no’ lol). She liked the idea of playing in the curtains. So we rolled with it and baby had a good time looking out the window and eating her cheerios, while playing peek-a-boo with the camera.
All-in-all the session was a success. We got so many incredible pictures and I can’t wait to share them with you just as soon as Mom’s picks her favourites.
My milestone event is happening THIS WEEK! Baby Boom sessions are only $99 and I have only 4 spaces left. You can head to this link to claim one of the last spots.
